| Abstract: | Diplomová práce se věnuje problematice síťových odvětví, konkrétně vodárenství v České republice. Vodárenství a vlastnická struktura tohoto segmentu je neustále aktuálním a často diskutovaným tématem v kontextu výkonnosti a efektivity podniků působících v tomto odvětví.Práce se zabývá především analýzou vodárenského odvětví ČR a jeho vývojem, dále vývojem regulace a popisem institucionálního prostředí. Stěžejní část práce poté tvoří finanční benchmark vybraných společností působících na trhu s ohledem na povahu provozního modelu a dále porovnání efektivnosti vybraných společností za použití metody DEA. Následná analýza vybraných ukazatelů specifických pro vodárenství napříč zeměmi EU doplňuje práci o mezinárodní porovnání, které umožňuje objektivně zhodnotit stav a kondici českého vodárenského průmyslu. Hlavním přínosem práce je zhodnocení finanční a ekonomické efektivity subjektů působících v tomto odvětví v závislosti na povaze provozního modelu a návrh doporučení pro budoucí směrování a podobu tohoto odvětví. |

| Abstract: | This diploma thesis focuses on network industries, specifically on the water industry in the Czech Republic. The water industry and the ownership structure of this segment is a current and frequently discussed topic in the context of performance and efficiency of businesses operating in this sector. This thesis analyzes the Czech water industry, its development, the development of its regulation and the description of the institutional environment. The main part of the thesis consists of the financial benchmark of selected companies operating on the market with regards to the character of the operating model and also a comparison of the efficiency of selected companies using the DEA method. An analysis of select indicators that are specific for water industry across EU countries complements the thesis with an international comparison which then allows to objectively evaluate the condition of the Czech water industry.The main benefit of this thesis is an evaluation of the financial and economic efficiency of the subjects operating in the industry with regards to the nature of the operating model and a proposal of recommendations for the future direction of the sector. |
