Presence and influence of Chinese sovereign wealth funds in Europe after the crisis period

Diplomová práce se zaobírá vybranými čínskými suverénními fondy a jejich investicemi v Evropě po krizovém období. Cílem práce je posoudit vliv suverénních fondů v krajinách EU, jejich následné využití nebo zneužití v souvislosti s možnostmi regulace. Na příkladech investicí v evropských firmách analyzuje sílu fondů a s tím spojené potenciální výhody i problémy. Předkládá regulaci navrhovanou Evropskou komisí, která zavádí monitorování přímých zahraničních investic v evropských krajinách. Diplomová práce je rozdělená do tří kapitol. První vysvětluje pojem suverénní fond s ohledem na státní kapitalizmus, přibližuje jeho fungování a výskyt ve světě. Druhá kapitola detailně popisuje vybrané čínské suverénní fondy. Poslední kapitola se zaobírá investicemi čínských suverénních fondů a jejich důsledky, zároveň představuje možnou regulaci na evropské úrovni.

Diploma thesis presents selected Chinese sovereign wealth funds and their investments in Europe after crisis period. The aim of the thesis is to review the influence of sovereign wealth funds in EU countries, their potential utilization or misuse with regards to possibilities of regulation. It analysis the power of the funds on the examples of the investments in European companies and potential advantages and disadvantages arising. It presents the proposed regulation by European commission, which creates screening of foreign direct investments in European countries. Diploma thesis is divided into the three chapters. The first one explains sovereign wealth fund with regards to state capitalism, explains it's functioning and its presence in the world. Second chapter describes selected Chinese sovereign wealth funds into details. The last chapter concerns about investments of Chinese sovereign wealth funds and their implications and altogether describes possibilities of regulation on European level.
