| Abstract: | Cíli této práce bylo seznámit čtenáře s problematikou zálohování a obnovy dat databáze, navrhnutí kritérií a způsobu porovnání vybraných databázových systémů a následné porovnání jejich nabízených možností zálohování a obnovy dat podle navrhnutých kritérií. První kapitola seznamuje čtenáře s pojmy a koncepty, které jsou pro problematiku zálohy a obnovy dat důležité. V této části práce je například možné se dozvědět o různých důvodech, proč může být nutné obnovit databázi, o důležitosti plánu zálohy a obnovy, o šifrování a kompresy záloh nebo o různých druzích zálohy a obnovy. V druhé kapitole jsou vybrány konkrétní systémy řízení báze dat na základě jejich popularity a čtenář je seznámen s jejich historií a obecnou architekturou. V třetí kapitole je vybrán systém kritérií, na základě kterých bylo v kapitole čtyři provedeno porovnání. U produktu PostgreSQL byly některé úkony vyzkoušeny i prakticky s cílem ověřit přesnost a pravdivost jeho dokumentace. Hlavním přínosem této práce je porovnání vybraných systému řízení báze dat z hlediska zálohování a obnovy dat a také alespoň částečné ověření dokumentace PostgreSQL. |

| Abstract: | The main goals of this thesis were to acquaint the reader with the problematics of database data backup and recovery, suggest the criteria and the means of comparing the chosen database systems and subsequently to compare their offered backup and recovery features based on the suggested criteria. The first chapter of this thesis focuses on getting the reader acquainted with the different terms and concepts that are important for understanding this topic. In this part it is possible to find out about the different reasons why a database might need recovering, about the importance of backup and recovery plan, about backup encryption and compression, or about the different recovery and backup methods. In the second chapter are picked the specific database management systems based on their popularity and the reader is acquainted with their history and general architecture. In the third chapter are picked the criteria based on which the comparison is made in the fourth chapter. In case of the PostgreSQL database management system some of the tasks were performed practically in order to verify the accuracy and truthfulness of its documentation. The main contribution of this thesis is the comparison of the chosen database management systems based on their data backup and recovery capabilities, but also at least the partial verification of PostgreSQL documentation. |
