| Abstract: | The purpose of this thesis is to identify the centres of corporate dominance in Germany and it is an attempt to describe the motives and main drivers of recent headquarter relocations within the country. The analysis is based on literature review, a database comprising the 10,000 largest companies in Germany and additional research for qualitative input to support the interpretation of the findings. The findings show that corporate dominance in Germany is decentralised. Centres with relative corporate dominance tend to host a higher proportion of public limited companies, more companies with a turnover of over one billion Euros and a higher proportion of companies that were founded after the year 2000 than the average German city. The main drivers for recent HQ relocations were corporate restructuring (mergers and demergers) and the centralisation of functions. Furthermore, it has been found that differences in the trade tax burden between municipalities have had no influence on recent relocation decisions within Germany. |

| Abstract: | Cílem této diplomové práce je identifikovat centra korporátní dominance v Německu. Jedná se o popis motivů a důvodů přestěhování ústředí společností v rámci jednoho státu. Analýza je založena na studiu literatury, databáze obsahující 10 000 největších společností v Německu a doplňujícího výzkumu kvalitativních dat pro lepší interpretaci nálezů. Z výsledků vyplývá, že převážná část společností v Německu je decentralizovaná. Více než v průměrných německých městech, mají v centrech s relativní korporátní dominancí tendenci mít sídlo společnosti s ručením omezeným, více pak společností s obratem přesahujícím jednu miliardu eur a nejvíce společností založených po roce 2000. Hlavními faktory, které vedly k nedávným přemístěním ústředí společností, byla restrukturalizace podniků (fúze a rozdělení) a centralizace funkcí. Dále bylo zjištěno, že rozdíly v daňové zátěži mezi městy neměly žádný vliv na nedávná rozhodnutí o přemístění v rámci Německa. |
