| Abstract: | Předkládaná diplomová práce se zabývá tématikou identity v kontextu regionu severovýchodní Afriky. Autorka se nejprve snaží objasnit výchozí pojmy jako národ, nacionalismus a identita. Práce se blíže věnuje historickým událostem, které determinovaly utváření kolektivní identity v regionu Afrického rohu, a faktorům, jež přispěly k budování národního povědomí Eritrejců a Somalilanďanů. Cílem práce je zjistit, zda ve dvou zkoumaných útvarech existuje sdílená a veřejností akceptovaná společná identita. |

| Abstract: | The presented diploma thesis deals with identity in the context of north-eastern African regions. The author of this thesis defines, first and foremost, the key terminology such as nation, nationalism and identity. The thesis further aims at pointing out key moments in the region’s history, which determined the collective self-hood and had an impact on forging collective regional identity. The aim of this thesis is to find out whether or not there is an overarching, publicly shared identity among Eritreans and the so called “Somalilanders.” |
