Abstract:

Abstract:
The main motivation for the choice of this topic was the problem of targeted communications based on sensibility of customers to discounts. There was no analytical approach to customer segmentation and in some cases, customers were contacted with the offer that was not relevant for them, causing problems and not bringing positive customer experience. The main objective of the thesis is to divide customers into groups of customers based on the sensitivity to the discount and the size of the basket, thereby improving the targeted communication and perception of the company. The solution of the problem is customer segmentation by analytical methods covered by the area of cluster analysis. It performs segmentation on the basis of customer similarities to each other according to the variables that are in this case customer purchases and the value of purchased products on discount throughout the purchase. From non-hierarchical cluster analysis methods, I chose a k-medoid based algorithm called CLARA, which is particularly suitable for its robustness to outliers, as well as its relatively fast work with large input matrices.
