| Abstract: | Hlavním cílem bakalářské práce je zhodnocení významu změn v islandském bankovnictví v letech 1991-2008 v kontextu Velké recese. Hypotéza, že za hloubkou hospodářské krize stála nadměrná a potencionálně nebezpečná velikost bankovního sektoru, byla potvrzena. Po důkladné analýze bankovního sektoru a chování centrální banky, byl za hlavní faktor vzniku hluboké recese označen nejen rozbujelý bankovní sektor, ale i monetární politika centrální banky a její nedostatečný dohled nad bankovním sektorem. Vývoj islandského bankovnictví je zpracován až do roku 2018 a po jeho analýze islandská ekonomika vykazuje znaky stabilní ekonomiky a je vyvozeno, že hospodářská krize je pro Island po všech směrech minulostí. |

| Abstract: | The main purpose of this thesis is to assess the importance of changes in the Icelandic banking from 1991-2008 in the context of the Great Recession. The hypothesis that excessive and potentially dangerous size of the banking sector was crucial for the depth of the economic crisis was confirmed. After a thorough analysis of the banking sector and the behavior of the central bank, the main factor crucial for the deep recession was not only the banking sector, but also the central bank's monetary policy and its lack of supervision of the banking sector. The development of the Icelandic banking has been elaborated to 2018 and based on its condition it has been concluded that the Icelandic economy shows signs of a stable economy and the economic crisis is a thing of the past for Iceland. |
