| Abstract: | Bakalářské práce analyzuje vývoj obchodní bilance Spojených států mezi lety 2008-2018. Je sledován její vývoj se zaměřením na klíčové faktory, které obchodní bilanci ovlivnily a způsobily její dlouhodobý deficit. Následně je obchodní bilance Spojených států srovnána s vývojem obchodní bilance Evropské unie s důrazem, zda tento ukazatel plně reflektuje výkonnost ekonomiky a (ne)úspěch v mezinárodním obchodě. Práce dochází k závěrům, že deficit obchodu Spojených států je způsoben specifickým postavením země v mezinárodním obchodě a také domácí měnou. Žádný ze sledovaných ukazatelů nepotvrdil, že by obchodní schodky Spojených států brzdily ekonomiku nebo nějakým zásadním způsobem ovlivňovaly jejich úspěch v mezinárodním obchodě. |

| Abstract: | The bachelor thesis analyzes the development of the United States trade balance between 2008 and 2018. The main focus is on the development of the US trade balance and key factors that influence the trade balance and cause its long-term deficit. Further a comparison with the trade balance of the European Union is made with an emphasis on whether this indicator fully reflects the performance of the economy and (un)success in international trade. The thesis concludes that the US trade deficit is caused by the country's specific position in international trade and also by the domestic currency. None of the indicators under review confirmed that the US trade deficits hampered the economy or somehow affected international trade success of the United States. |
