The aim of this bachelor thesis is to analyze the possible impacts of introducing a unified national tariff in long-distance passenger rail transport in the Czech Republic. In the theoretical part, I define the basic concepts related to long-distance passenger rail transport, especially passenger transport, transport tariff, financing and price formation. In the practical part, I use the method of analysis and comparison to assess the situation within the prices of long-distance passenger rail transport based mainly on the tariff valid with the ČD carrier. Part of the practical part are questionnaire surveys with respondents of different ages and from different social groups. The results of the analyzes show that the trend of fares has a growing trend in the monitored period from 2007 to 2017 due to both the inflation rate and the increasing value-added tax (VAT) rate as well as the rising input prices (energy, fuel, SŽDC fees, etc.). I also find out the implications of introducing a single national tariff on passenger transport needs. From questionnaire surveys, I gain important insights on the appropriateness and meaningfulness of introducing a single national tariff with an impact on the traveling public. Based on individual analyzes, I propose recommendations for the state.KeywordsCzech Railways Ltd., long-distance rail transportation, rail carrier, transport tariff, unified national tariff, rail fare, kilometrical tariff, fare, passenger rail transport, transport serviceability, public service obligation, commercial transportJEL ClassificationR41, R42, R48AbstractThe aim of this bachelor thesis is to analyze the possible impacts of introducing a unified national tariff in long-distance passenger rail transport in the Czech Republic.
