| Abstract: | Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na režim zlatého standardu, resp. na jeho meziválečnou podobu a na Brettonwoodský měnový systém. Oba systémy byly významnými faktory ovlivňující mezinárodní ekonomickou situaci ve druhé polovině 19. století a většině 20. století až po jeho 70. léta. Přesněji se práce zaměřuje na analýzu problémů, jež se v systémech objevily, a které vedly ke konci obou systémů. Jejich komparací se pokouší práce zodpovědět na otázku, jestli mechanismy použité v Brettonwoodském měnovém systému byly už od jeho počátku nastaveny špatně, neboť nebyly schopny zabránit problémům, které se v něm objevily, a které byly již dříve známé z režimu meziválečného zlatého standardu, a tedy se dalo očekávat, že nastanou i v Brettonwoodském měnovém systému. V první části práce je nejprve popsán vznik a fungování jak meziválečného zlatého standardu, tak Brettonwoodského měnového systému s popisem jejich základních principů a institucí, jež v nich hrály klíčovou roli. Hlavní část práce je pak rozdělena na šest hlavních podkapitol, ve kterých jsou analyzovány příčiny a důsledky tří hlavní problémy obou systémů, tedy problém vyrovnávání, problém likvidity a problém důvěry, a následně je provedena jejich komparace mezi systémy. Výsledkem práce je konstatování, že mechanismy použité v Brettonwoodském měnovém systému byly od počátku nastaveny špatně, neboť problémy, které se v něm objevily měly velmi podobnou, nebo místy i stejnou podstatu, jako ty, které se objevily v režimu meziválečného zlatého standardu. |

| Abstract: | This bachelor thesis focuses on gold standard regime, respectively on its interwar form, and Bretton Woods monetary system. Both of those systems were important factors influencing the international economic situation through second half of 19. century and majority of 20. century until 70s. More precisely, the thesis focuses on the analysis of issues that appeared in both systems and led to their collapse. Through usage of comparation the thesis tries to answer the question, if mechanisms used in Bretton Woods monetary system were set up badly right from its beginning, because they were unable to prevent problems of the Bretton Woods system from appearance, despite they appeared in interwar gold standard and so they were previously known and therefor it could be expected that they are likely to appear again in the Bretton Woods monetary system. In the first part of the thesis, the beginning and the functioning of both gold standard regime and Bretton Woods monetary system is described along with their basic principles and institutions, which played the key role in them. The primary part of the thesis is divided into 6 basic subchapters, where the cause and consequence of three basic issues of each system, which were: problem of adjustment, problem of liquidity and problem of confidence, is analyzed and then they are compared to each other between both regimes. The conclusion of my work is that mechanisms used in Bretton Woods monetary system were set up badly right from its beginning, because the issues which appeared in it had very similar or identical course as those in interwar gold standard regime. |
