How does labor immigration in the Czech Republic affect wages of domestic workers?

| Abstract: | Cílem této práce je zjistit, zda má pracovní imigrace do ČR dopad na výši českých mezd. Metodologie práce je založena na přístupu Borjase (2003), jež spočívá v rozdělení domácích a zahraničních pracovníků společně do skupin dle úrovně dovedností. Pracovní trh jsme tak segmentovali do 10 skupin dle hlavních tříd klasifikace CZ-ISCO. Výsledky regresního modelu neprokázaly statisticky významný vliv růstu podílu zahraničních zaměstnanců na celkovém počtu zaměstnanců na výši mezd v ČR za období 2010-2017. Na základě výsledků empirického modelu nebyla potvrzena stanovená hypotéza o negativním vlivu pracovní imigrace do ČR na výši mezd domácích zaměstnanců. |

| Abstract: | The aim of this thesis is to examine whether labor immigration to the Czech Republic affects Czech wages. The methodology of this thesis is based on the approach of Borjas (2003), which groups domestic and foreign workers together based on their ability. The labor market was therefore segmented into 10 groups according to the main classes of CZ-ISCO classification. Results of the regression model did not find a statistically significant effect of an increase of the share of foreign workers on the level of wages in the Czech Republic during period 2010-2017. The hypothesis of negative impact of labor immigration to the Czech Republic on the level of domestic worker’s wages was not confirmed by the results of the empirical model. |
