Abstract: | The main goal of this thesis is to determine the influence of Social Connection Preference (SCM) on employee satisfaction which is measured by trust, organizational commitment and intention to quit. Secondary objective is to determine the influence of firm size on tolerance of nepotism, favoritism and cronyism. Theoretical part summarizes the current knowledge on positive and negative effects of favoring relatives and friends on the workplace. To meet the objectives, quantitative research was carried out using a questionnaire and Czech university students as a target group. The study shows that students which are more tolerant to SCM are also more committed to organization and have higher trust in their manager. To measure the impact of SCM it is essential to distinguish between those who suffer and those who use SCM to their benefits. Overall, the tolerance of SCM is low and experiences and firm size have a major impact. Negative experiences result in higher intention to leave. The bigger the organization the lower tolerance of SCM and more frequent labeling it as a form of discrimination. |
