| Abstract: | This diploma thesis aims to examine whether traditional valuation method – discounted cash flow is suitable in the context of young firms – startups. For that purpose, synthesis of work from various researchers was used and applied on a specific startup firm operating in the InsurTech sphere. As a result, the firm was valued inclusive of its core operations and strategic options. The never-ending issue of arbitrary high discount rates applied by venture capitalists was confronted by systematically adjusting the firm’s beta in order to best reflect its specifics. |

| Abstract: | Tato diplomová práce si klade za cíl vyzkoumat, zda-li tradiční metoda DCF je vhodným nástrojem pro valuaci v kontextu mladých a rychle rostoucích firem - startupů. Za tímto účelem byla provedena syntéza ze zkoumání již existujících prací a následně poznatky z této syntézy aplikovány na konkrétní startup operující v InsurTech sféře. Nikdy nekončící diskuze nad neospravedlnitelně vysokými diskontními mírami, často používanými venture capital firmami, byla konfrontována přístupem, který systematicky a konzistentně upravuje betu firmy tak, aby diskontní míra co nejlépe reflektovala charakter podnik. |
