Social Care in the Territorial Self-Government

The subject of this bachelor thesis is the state of the social care policy in the Czech Republic, concentrating on chosen lower territorial self-governing units. It provides a basic overview of the social care system, quality and possibilities in the area of social care services in chosen municipalities. A questionnaire survey, given to the governing authorities and social facilities, is used as a primary source of information and it identifies the absence of certain social facilities, specifically “social housing” and counseling services. The thesis suggests possible measures, that would improve civic satisfaction and amenities, such as: increasing awareness of subjects, retraining workers, linking social policy with other institutions, improving citizen involvement in the social facilities operations. This thesis confirms the hypothesis of insufficient interconnection of the social facilities and lower territorial self-governing units and lack of funds, but only in some municipalities and institutions.
