Abstract:
Information technologies are on the move and they evolve and bring new possibilities to regular business operations. One of the new evolved concept is Internet of Things. In this master thesis, IoT will be discussed in relation to fashion retail industry. IoT solutions for retail are on huge raise now and the market for them is constantly increasing side by side with the increase of retailers that implement them. The main goal of this thesis is to analyze possibility of IoT solutions implementation by smaller brick-and-mortar stores and profitability of those solutions. Academic literature overview focuses on solutions implemented and results of those projects, with big focus on RFID technology as well as limitations and issues for IoT projects are presented. Several cases of RFID item-level tagging implementation projects by big well known retailers are covered and a comparison of projects results is presented. Available IoT technologies and solutions on the market are presented further. The practical part of the thesis is dedicated to assessment of implementation of different IoT technologies in respect to smaller retail store. Based on the assessment of IoT solutions the main research question is answered and recommendations on implementation are provided.
