| Abstract: | Práce zabývá teorií optimálních měnových oblastí (OCA). Tu se snaží aplikovat na integrační celek Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nacházející se v Perském zálivu. Pro dovršení integračního procesu si země daly za cíl zavedení měnové unie. Cílem práce je vyzkoumat, zda by země GCC byly optimální oblastí pro zavedení jednotné měny. Dalším cílem je porovnání optimality měnové oblasti Perského zálivu s eurozónou. Práce vychází z hypotézy, že vzhledem k silné závislosti na příjmech z ropy a zemního plynu, tvoří země Gulf Cooperation Council optimálnější měnovou oblast než eurozóna. Optimalita zemí GCC je zkoumána na základě kritérií tradiční teorie OCA jako je otevřenost ekonomiky, struktura hospodářské produkce, ekonomická diverzifikace, flexibility cen, mezd a mobilita výrobních faktorů. Práce také nastiňuje potenciální rizika v případě, že by se státy GCC rozhodly vydat cestou realizace měnové unie. |

| Abstract: | The thesis addresses the theory of Optimal Currency Area (OCA), which is applicated on the Gulf Cooperation Council countries located in Persian Gulf. They are aiming to form a monetary union. The main goal of this thesis is to find out, if the GCC counties are the optimal area for a joint currency. The paper also compares the optimality of the eurozone and the GCC countries. The thesis is based on the hypothesis, that the GCC countries would form more optimal monetary union than the eurozone does, due to their severe dependence on the oil and gas revenues. The optimality of GCC countries is observed based on following criteria: economical openness, production structures, economic diversification, price and wage flexibility and finally mobility of factors of production. The text also points to the potential risks in case of the creation of a monetary union in the Gulf. |
