Modern methods and tools for management of software products

This diploma thesis is a complex and holistic evaluation of the management of software products development achieved by synthesising areas of product management, project management and technical process approaches for software development. These days, companies are applying complex methodologies without properly validating all the consequences and even without setting proper goals and expectations for a given implementation. These decisions are made based on feelings and the phenomenon of agile that is currently noticeable in the tech community. Therefore, no one knows what the benefits should be and if there will be any at all. Similar behaviour can be very risky as software products vary a lot, and they require a different set of techniques for their management. The goal of this thesis is to verify on a real example and using a case study research method, which methods, approaches and techniques of the software development management are beneficial for a similar software product development, what are the exact benefits and how great they are and therefore if these should be implemented with similar product development in the future or not. This thesis also demonstrates that there is no single methodology or framework in this world that could cover all aspects of the software product development lifecycle including all the areas of the product management, project management and software and process practices and approaches.
