| Abstract: | Tato diplomová práce se zabývá regionální politikou Čínské lidové republiky. Představuje Program západního rozvoje, který čínská vláda představila v roce 2000 za účelem snížení socioekonomických nerovností v zemi způsobených především reformami v 80. a 90. letech 20. století. Práce se zabývá způsoby implementace programu, skrze který vláda bojuje s chudobou a zaostalou ekonomikou západních provincií. Cílem diplomové práce je analyzovat dopady opatření, jejich efektivitu a udržitelnost do budoucna a posoudit, zda se daří přiblížit ekonomickou úroveň západních oblastí na podobnou úroveň jako má rozvinuté východní pobřeží. Práce zkoumá toto téma jak na celonárodní úrovni, tak na příkladu provincie Sichuan. |

| Abstract: | The thesis deals with the regional policy of the People's Republic of China. It characterizes the Western Development Programme, which the Chinese government introduced in 2000 in order to reduce inequalities between the western and eastern parts of the country, which resulted mainly from reforms implemented during the last two decades of the 20th century. The thesis deals with the ways in which measures are implemented to reduce poverty and poor economic development in the western provinces. The aim of the thesis is to analyse the outcomes of the measures taken, their efficiency and sustainability with respect to predicted future development. It also judges whether western provinces are getting closer to the economic level of richer eastern areas in the coastal zone. The thesis examines the measures and their impacts on the national level as well as with special focus on the province of Sichuan. |
