| Abstract: | The aim of the thesis is to provide a comprehensive analysis of the consequences of tariff increases resulting from the United States and China trade war on technology-focused industries in the manufacturing sector of the United States. More specifically, it discusses the importance of intellectual property rights, forced technology transfer, foreign direct investment and industrial strategy, in order to highlight the dispute over technological dominance between the two countries. This thesis examines three high-tech manufacturing sub-sectors using relevant economic indicators in order to estimate the impact of U.S. import tariffs. The trade barriers bring adverse effects on the U.S. technology manufacturing industries through raising input costs, import protection, foreign retaliatory tariffs and bringing overall stagnant growth of the manufacturing sector. |

| Abstract: | Cílem práce je podat ucelenou analýzu dopadů zvýšení tarifů v důsledku obchodní války mezi USA a Čínou, a to na technologickém zpracovatelském průmyslu v USA. Specificky je diskutován význam práv k duševnímu vlastnictví, nucený převod technologií, přímé zahraniční investice a průmyslové strategie, a to s cílem zdůrazni spor o technologickou dominanci mezi dvěma zeměmi. Tato práce zkoumá tři technologické sektory s využitím ekonomických indikátorů s cílem odhadnout dopad amerických dovozních cel. Obchodní překážky mají opačné efekty na americký technologický průmysl v důsledku zvýšených vstupních nákladů, ochrany před dovozem, odvetných tarifů ze zahraničí a stagnujícího růstu zpracovatelského průmyslu. |
