The employment of foreigners in the Czech Republic in the context of economic cycle

| Abstract: | Práce se zaměřuje na téma zaměstnanosti cizinců v České republice v kontextu ekonomického vývoje. Je koncipována do dvou hlavních částí, z nichž první se zaměřuje na definici klíčových pojmů a shrnutí podmínek pobytu cizích zaměstnanců. Druhá část plynule navazuje využitím těchto informací v analýze vzorku cizinců (jejich věkové struktury, pohlaví, počtu v závislosti na typ pobytu, počtu v závislosti na typu ekonomické aktivity atp.), a soustředí se na naplnění cíle práce. Tím je ověřit hypotézu, zda vývoj počtu cizinců souvisí se změnami ekonomiky v ČR. Za tím účelem jsou položeny tři hlavní výzkumné otázky, tedy zda vývoj počtu cizinců pobývajících na území ČR lze vysvětlit vývojem ekonomické situace v ČR, a pokud ano, zda je pro popis vývoje počtu cizinců vhodnější nominální či reálný HDP, a zda je pro popis vývoje počtu cizinců vhodnější použití předchozích hospodářských výsledků než současných. Hypotéza je ověřována pomocí regresní analýzy, z níž se ukázal být nejvhodnější model regresní přímky za využití nominálního HDP jako ukazatele ekonomického vývoje a současných hospodářských výsledků, tedy bez posunutí o jeden rok. Výsledkem bylo potvrzení hypotézy. Teze, že počet cizincůs vývojem ekonomiky souvisí, byla dále potvrzena výpočtem korelačního koeficientu, který prokázal silnou závislost mezi proměnnými. |

| Abstract: | The bachelor thesis focuses on the topic of employment of foreigners in the Czech Republic in the context of economic cycle. The text is divided into two main parts. The first of them focuses on the definition of the key terms and a summary of the conditions of foreign employees’ residence. The second part follows up on the use of this information in the analysis of a structure of foreigners (their age, gender, numbers according to the type of stay, numbers depending on the type of economic activity, etc.), and focuses on achieving the goal of the thesis. That is to verify the hypothesis whether the numbers of foreigners are related to the changes in the economy in the Czech Republic. To this end, three main research questions are determined, i.e. whether the changes in numbers of foreigners residing in the Czech Republic can be explained by the fluctuation of the economy in the Czech Republic, and if so, whether nominal or real GDP is more suitable for describing these changes. The third research question investigates the appropriateness of the use of previous economic results than the recent ones. The hypothesis is verified by means of regression analysis, from which the regression line using nominal GDP as an indicator of economic development proved to be the most suitable model. The result was the confirmation of the hypothesis. The thesis that the number of foreigners is related to the economic cycle was further confirmed by the calculation of the correlation coefficient, which showed a strong dependence between the variables. |
