Analysis of the investment cycle of a selected Czech startup

Diplomová práce se zabývá financováním startupů. Cílem práce v teoretické části je vytvoření uceleného přehledu o financování startupů pro začínající české podnikatele. Práce popisuje, jakými fázemi startup z pohledu financování prochází. Vymezuje zdroje a způsoby financování, které lze při procházení jednotlivými fázemi využít. Zabývá se jejich individuálními výhodami, riziky a dostupností v České republice. Cílem praktické části je vypracování analýzy investičního cyklu ve formě případové studie. Podklady pro vyhotovení případové studie byly: polo-strukturovaný rozhovor se zakladatelem analyzovaného startupu, poskytnuté prezentační materiály využívané při oslovení investorů, volně dostupné informace o analyzovaném startupu a jeho investorech. Případová studie naznačuje odlišnosti mezi průběhem investičního cyklu popisovaným v zahraniční literatuře a průběhem investičního cyklu v podmínkách České republiky.

This diploma thesis deals with the topic of startup financing. The theoretical chapter aims to create a comprehensive overview of startup financing for beginning Czech entrepreneurs. The author describes which phases the startup goes through in terms of financing and defines the sources and methods of financing that can be applied in the individual phases. Furthermore, the chapter deals with the respective benefits of these methods, potential risks, and their availability in the Czech Republic. The practical part aims to develop the analysis of the investment cycle in the form of a case study. The basis for the preparation of the case study was a semi-structured interview with the founder of the analyzed startup, provided presentation materials used to address investors, freely available information about the analyzed startup, and its investors. The case study suggests differences between the course of the investment cycle as described in the foreign literature and the course of the investment cycle in the conditions of the Czech Republic.
