| Abstract: | Hrubý domácí produkt je ukazatelem ekonomické aktivity, který je rovněž často špatně interpretován jako ukazatel úrovně blahobytu společnosti. Cílem této práce bylo kvantifikovat výkonnost ekonomik států V4 pomocí ukazatele, který je v literatuře diskutován jako alternativa k HDP. Zvolila jsem ukazatel zvaný Genuine Progress Indicator (GPI), který byl představen v rámci projektu Redefining Progress (Talberth, Cobb, Slattery, 2007). Jedná se o komplexní ukazatel vývoje jak v ekonomické, tak v sociální i environmentální sféře. Na základě výpočtu dílčích komponentů ve své práci odhaduji GPI v letech 1995-2015 pro každý ze států uskupení Visegrádské čtyřky. Hodnotu ukazatele GPI, resp. jeho dynamiku v čase, porovnávám s ukazatelem HDP a analyzuji rozdíly, které mezi nimi vznikají. |

| Abstract: | Gross Domestic Product is a measure of economic activity, that is also often misused as a measure of social welfare. The aim of this thesis is to quantify economic performance for each member state of the V4 using an indicator which is considered an alternative to GDP. For this purpose I choose the Genuine Progress Indicator (GPI), that was created for a project called Redefining Progress (Talberth, Cobb and Slattery, 2007). It is a complex measure of overall development in economic, social and environmental sphere. Based on the calculations of components I estimate the value of GPI between years 1995-2015 for each of the states allied in a formation called the Visegrad Four. The results are compared with corresponding values of GDP and analyzed focusing on their differences in growth dynamics. |
