| Abstract: | Navzdory rostoucímu zájmu akademické obce i dalších zainteresovaných stran o téma role nevládních organizací (NGOs) v OSN a v širším mezinárodním systému zůstává toto téma v literatuře mezinárodních vztahů nedostatečně probádáno. Dosavadní literatura se zaměřuje především na úzké případové studie a/nebo zaujímá čistě teoretický pohled, což neumožňuje vytváření závěrů o roli v OSN a jejích dopadech na globální vládnutí, které je v teorii se zvýšenou aktivitou NGOs na mezinárodní úrovni spojováno. Tato práce zkoumá nezprostředkované aktivní působení NGOs v institucích OSN s cílem odhalit hlavní faktory, které zapojování NGOs do OSN ovlivňují, determinovat roli, kterou svým působením v OSN NGOs získávají, a vliv tohoto působení na globální vládnutí. Provedený výzkum dokazuje, že dochází k profesionalizaci a nárůstu role NGOs v OSN, které se stávají integrální součástí OSN a aktéry rovnými ostatním. Nezprostředkované působení NGOs v institucích OSN posiluje většinu charakteristik globálního vládnutí, a tím proměňuje podobu a způsob fungování mezinárodního systému. Odhalením dalších aspektů působení NGOs v OSN dochází k rozšíření literatury o důležité poznatky o tomto způsobu prosazování se na mezinárodní úrovni, ale i o jeho schopnosti přetvářet mezinárodní systém směrem ke globálnímu vládnutí. To se podařilo zejména díky dostatečně širokému pohledu na problematiku, využití vícenásobné triangulace a empirickému podložení výstupů opírajícím se o primární zdroje dat. Kombinace přístupu sociálního konstruktivismu s pohledem neoliberálního institucionalismu, speciálně modifikovaným pro tuto práci, představuje vedle využití statistických analýz v oboru mezinárodních vztahů a inovativním přístupem ke zkoumání role NGOs v OSN, spočívajícím ve využití textové diskursivní analýzy, obohacení teoreticko-metodologického aparátu oboru mezinárodních vztahů. |

| Abstract: | Despite the increased interest of both practitioners and academics in the role of NGOs in the UN and the wider international system, a gap has been identified in the existing international relations literature on this issue, for most of it focuses only on narrow case studies and/or lacks the empirical evidence to make conclusions on the role of NGOs in the UN and its impacts on global governance, the advent of which is linked by theorists to the increased international activity of NGOs. The thesis explores the unmediated active involvement of NGOs in the UN institutions to reveal the main factors influencing NGO participation in the UN, the role that NGOs gain in the UN through their direct participation and its consequences for global governance. The research shows that NGOs in the UN have professionalised their participation and their role has grown to the level when they are considered an integral part of the UN system and actors equal to others. The unmediated active participation of NGOs in the UN institutions reinforces most of the characteristics of the global governance, thus transforming the shape and mode of functioning of the international system. By revealing so far unexplored aspects of the direct NGO involvement in the UN, the research has widened the knowledge of this mode of self-assertion of NGOs on the international level and its power to transform the international system towards global governance. This was made possible by adoption of a wide perspective on the issue along with use of the empirical evidence, use of primary data and employment of multiple triangulation. Combination of the view of social constructivism with specially adapted perspective of neo-liberal institutionalism, use of statistical analyses in international relations literature and innovative approach to the study of the role of NGOs in the UN consisting in employment of textual discourse analysis belong to the contributions of the thesis to the theoretical-methodological apparatus of international relations. |
