Abstract: | In my diploma thesis I deal with the issue of carousel fraud in commercial transactions, both domestic, intra - Community and international, taking into account the latest developments at the level of the Czech Republic and the European Union. Theoretically focused analytical part describes the basic principles of operation of value added tax, history and changes in legislation that have enabled carousel fraud on a large scale. In comparative case studies from the latest available Czech case law, I describe the most common carousel or similar VAT fraud in relation to the Czech Republic, as the findings of the analysis have implications for assessing the effectiveness of individual measures implemented to prevent, identify and subsequently prosecute carousel VAT fraud. The output is a description of current means of combating carousel tax fraud, an assessment of the current situation and further developments, especially at the EU level. |
