| Abstract: | Cílem diplomové práce je identifikovat a zhodnotit příčiny extrémní chudoby se zaměřením na lidský kapitálu, a to především v oblasti výživy, zdraví a vzdělání. Objektem případové studie je Indická republika. Práce je rozdělena do tří kapitol. První kapitola vymezuje samotný pojem chudoba, popisuje její druhy a definuje klíčový koncept extrémní chudoby v rozvojových zemích. Druhá kapitola pak představuje základní členění příčin chudoby a detailně se věnuje příčinám v hlavních dimenzích lidského kapitálu – výživě, zdraví, vzdělávání a populačním růstu. V těchto dimenzích zároveň určuje hlavní indikátory pro možnost jejich měření. Třetí kapitola analyzuje vývoj v posledních dvaceti letech a současný stav ukazatelů v Indii, a to rovněž ve srovnání s dalšími vybranými ekonomikami. |

| Abstract: | The objective of the master thesis is to identify and evaluate causes of extreme poverty with the focus on human capital, especially within the area of nutrition, health and education. The thesis is divided into three chapters. The first chapter defines the term “poverty”, describes its types, and specifies the key concept of extreme poverty in developing countries. The second chapter presents the basic division of the causes of poverty and deals in detail with the causes in the main dimensions of human capital - nutrition, health, education, and population growth. In these dimensions, it also determines the main indicators for the possibility of measuring them. The third chapter evaluates the development in the last twenty years and the current state of indicators in the Republic of India, also in comparison with other selected economies. |
