Abstract:
The thesis aims to analyze the contemporary deterioration of US-China relations while comparing it to the Cold War. The main research question is: whether the current US-China competition is a New Cold War? In order to answer this question, first, the definition and central characteristics of the Cold War will be explained in greater detail. Then, both - the US-Soviet Union and the US-China - relations will be examined from ideological, geopolitical, economic and technological perspectives, and by focusing on their goals, policies and strategies, it will become clear how those two are comparable based on the identified characteristics of the Cold War. Finally, the differences and similarities will be highlighted, and the potential scenarios for the development of US-China relations will be discussed.
