The Historical Town of the Year and cultural tourism in the Czech Republic

| Abstract: | Diplomová práce pojednává o kulturním cestovním ruchu v České republice. Cílem této práce je popsat soutěž Historické město roku, její historii, včetně přehledu dosud vyhlášených měst, a na základě dotazníkového šetření zjistit od představitelů vítězných měst, zda vyhlášení mělo vliv na návštěvnost města, a dále popsat projekt Putování po historických městech Čech, Moravy a Slezska, kterého se účastnila právě ta města, která získala ocenění Historické město roku. V této práci jsou použity metody vlastního výzkum formou dotazování, analýzy, popisu a komparace. První kapitola se věnuje kulturnímu turismu, dědictví a památek a jeho aplikace v České republice. Druhá kapitola pojednává o Sdružení historických sídel Čech, Moravy a Slezska a jeho činnostem na rozvoje kulturního cestovního ruchu v České republice. Třetí kapitola je věnována soutěži Historické město roku a souvisejícímu Programu regenerace městských památkových zón a rezervací. Čtvrtá kapitola je seznámením s bývalým projektem Putování po historických městech Čech, Moravy a Slezska. Třetí a čtvrtá kapitola této práce je navíc doplněna o kontext v podobě aktuálních témat a problémů celosvětového cestovního ruchu: nadměrný turismus a udržitelný rozvoj cestovního ruchu. Pátá kapitola se skládá se poznatků získanými z dotazníkových šetřeních jak mezi veřejností, tak mezi zástupci vybraných měst, která zvítězila v soutěži Historické město roku Hlavními tématy obou šetření jsou soutěž Historické město roku, projekt Putování po historických městech Čech, Moravy a Slezska a kulturní cestovní ruchu v České republice. |

| Abstract: | The main topic of this diploma thesis is cultural tourism in the Czech Republic. The aim of this work is to describe the competition Historic Town of the Year, its history, including an overview of prize-winning cities, and based on a questionnaire survey to find out from the representatives of the winning cities whether the prize had an impact on tourism in their city, and to describe the project Wandering around Historic Towns of Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia, in which the very cities that won the Historic Town of the Year award took part. In this thesis the following methods were used: own research in the form of questioning, analysis, description, and comparison. The first chapter describes cultural tourism, heritage and monuments and its application in the Czech Republic. The second chapter is about the Association Historical Settlements in Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia and its projects for the development of cultural tourism in the Czech Republic. The third chapter is dedicated to the Historic Town of the Year competition and the related Programme of the Regeneration of Urban Monument Reserves and Urban Monument Zones. The fourth chapter is an introduction to the former project Wandering around Historic Towns of Bohemia, Moravia, and Silesia. In addition, the third and fourth chapters of this thesis are supplemented by a context in the form of current topics and problems of global tourism: overtourism and sustainable development of tourism. The fifth chapter consists of findings from both questionnaire surveys, among the public and among representatives of selected cities, which won the Historic City of the Year competition. The main topics of both surveys are the Historic Town of the Year competition, the Wandering around Historic Towns of Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia project and cultural tourism in the Czech Republic. |
