The influence of the leadership style and the atmosphere of the workplace on self-efficacy of employees in medical facilities

| Abstract: | Cílem diplomové práce je zjištění vlivu stylu vedení a atmosféry na pracovišti na self-efficacy pracovníků ve zdravotnických zařízeních. Teoretická část je věnována zdravotnímu systému s ohledem na zdravotní sestry, organizaci a jejímu prostředí včetně sociální atmosféry, self-efficacy a leadershipu s důrazem na transformační, transakční a laissez-faire přístup. V praktické části je uskutečněn výzkum mezi 48 zdravotními sestrami na 3 vybraných odděleních nemocnice XY. Použita byla sada ověřených dotazníků. Úroveň self-efficacy byla zjištěna Dotazníkem obecné vlastní efektivity se zaměřením na pracovní oblast. Stav sociální atmosféry byl posouzen výběrem z dotazníku Škály sociální atmosféry ve skupině. Využity byly 4 dimenze - Mezilidské vztahy, Kooperace, Rozvoj a zralost skupiny a Vztah k práci. Využití vybraných stylů vedení bylo definováno prostřednictvím Dotazníku přístupu k vedení lidí neboli CLQ. Získaná data byla vyhodnocena popisnou statistikou a vztahy mezi proměnnými určeny pomocí Pearsonova korelačního koeficientu a p-hodnoty. Výsledky ukázaly, že self-efficacy zdravotních sester není významně ovlivněna stylem vedení ani sociální atmosférou i přes existenci vzájemných závislostí. Díky poznatkům byla navržena doporučení pro udržení či zlepšení stávající úrovně proměnných. |

| Abstract: | The aim of this thesis is to determine the influence of the leadership style and the atmosphere of the workplace on self-efficacy of employees in medical facilities. The theoretical part is dedicated to healthcare systems, organizations and their environment including the social atmosphere, self-efficacy and leadership with emphasis on transformational, transactional and laissez-faire approach. In the practical part is realized a research among 48 nurses on three wards in the hospital XY. The set of verified questionnaires was used. The level of self-efficacy was found out via The General Self-Efficacy Scale specified for the work field. The level of the social atmosphere was evaluated by the selection of The Social Atmosphere Scale of the Group. Four dimensions were used – Interpersonal relations, Cooperation, Development and maturity of the group and Relation to work. The use of the chosen leadership styles was measured by CLQ (Czech Leadership Questionnaire). The obtained data were evaluated by using descriptive statistics and the relations between the variables were defined via Pearson correlation coefficient and p-value. The results showed that self-efficacy of the nurses is not significantly influenced by the leadership style nor by the social atmosphere despite the existing mutual correlations. Recommendations for a maintenance or an increase of the current level of the variables were suggested due to these findings. |
