Externalities in logistics and transport in connection with the concept of circular economy and reverse logistics

| Abstract: | Cílem autora diplomové práce je v komplexních souvislostech popsat a vysvětlit externalityspojené s konkrétními druhy dopravy, shrnout možnosti řešení těchto externalit a vysvětlitreverzní logistiku a její vazbu na cirkulární ekonomiku a ukázat možné implementace systémůreverzní logistiky a zanalyzovat bariéry a motivátory. Teoretická část se soustředí na oblastexternalit, cirkulární ekonomiky a reverzní logistiky a praktická část se zabývá reverznílogistikou. Pro potřeby práce byl zvolen kvalitativní výzkum a autor pracoval jak s primárními,tak sekundárními daty. V rámci sběru primárních dat byly vedeny rozhovory s relevantnímiosobami v oblasti reverzní logistiky a byly zkoumány reálné implementace, bariéry, motivátorya vazba na cirkulární ekonomiky. V rámci analýzy sekundárních dat bylo pracovános jednadvaceti články od roku 2016 do roku 2020 zabývající se reverzní logistikou a skutečnýmimotivátory a bariérami pro implementaci systémů. Následně byly oba výzkumy porovnánymezi sebou a s literaturou a byly vytvořeny výsledky. Explicitně rozdělené systémy reverznílogistiky zatím v České republice nejsou běžnou praxí a jedná se spíše o výjimky. Klíčovébariéry stanovené v literatuře, ekonomické a legislativní, se objevily i v obou výzkumech ashodovaly se tedy s teorií. Jako nová klíčová bariéra byly na základě výsledků výzkumůstanoveny IT systémy, které se v starší literatuře neobjevovaly. Další opomíjenou bariérou bylyčasové prodlevy a charakter produktu. Hlavní motivátory opět kopírovaly dřívější poznatkytedy důležitost ekonomických a legislativních faktorů, nicméně na základě výsledků diplomovépráce byla zjištěna menší významnost environmentálních motivů a jako klíčový motivátor bylnově stanoven přístup vedení a managementu. |

| Abstract: | The aim of the author is to cover the topics of external costs of transport, possible solutions ofreducing external costs and to explain reverse logistics and the connection between reverselogistics and circular economy and to describe possible implementation of reverse logisticssystems and key barriers and drivers. Theoretical part focuses on external costs, circulareconomy and reverse logistics and practical part focuses on reverse logistics. For the purposeof this thesis author worked with primary and secondary data. Qualitative research was chosenas the most suitable option for the needs of this thesis and in-depth interview were held. Theinterviews were aiming to answer questions regarding implementation of system of reverselogistics, key drivers and barriers and the relationship between circular economy and reverselogistics. For the analysis of the secondary data exactly 21 articles were used and analysed.These articles were written between 2016 and 2020 and were focusing on reverse logistics andits key barriers and drivers. Afterwards the comparison among the two articles and theory wasconducted. Systems of reverse logistics are not common in Czech Republic so far and keybarriers stated in the theory, economical and legislative were also recognized as the mostimportant barriers in the research. As a new key barrier IT systems were recognized. Time delayand product characteristics were among the barriers, that weren’t mentioned that often in thetheory. The same story goes for key drivers, economical and legislative drivers were recognizedas the most important one, same as in theory. On the other hand, environmental drivers showedmuch less significance than the other two and top management and the attitude of managementwas recognised as a new key driver. |
