| Abstract: | This thesis analyses the global megatrends and key banking trends impacting market players in Europe with the goal of recommending key business model aspects that need to be innovated in order for Santander Bank to keep its leadership position in the market and continue to stay relevant. The top trends identified as the ones with the biggest potential to severely impact Santander Bank are an increase in cybercrime, banking as a service, new market entrants, customization of offerings, next-generation payment systems, and sharing economies. Through a qualitative and quantitative methodology, the author will further understand the implications of these trends both from industry experts and consumers’ perspective. This paper concludes with recommendations for Santander Bank on how its business model must be redefined to address the new challenges ahead and tap on the new market opportunities that some trends offer. |

| Abstract: | Tato diplomová práce analyzuje globální megatrendy a klíčové bankovní trendy ovlivňující účastníky trhu v Evropě s cílem doporučit klíčové aspekty obchodního modelu, které je třeba inovovat, aby si Santander Bank mohla udržet své vedoucí postavení na trhu a nadále zůstat relevantní. Mezi hlavní trendy identifikované jako ty s největším potenciálem pro vážný dopad na Santander Bank patří nárůst počítačové kriminality, bankovnictví jako služba, nové subjekty na trhu, přizpůsobení nabídek, platební systémy příští generace a sdílení ekonomik. Prostřednictvím kvalitativní a kvantitativní metodologie bude autor dále chápat důsledky těchto trendů jak z pohledu průmyslových odborníků, tak z pohledu spotřebitelů. Tento dokument uzavírá doporučení pro Santander Bank o tom, jak musí být její obchodní model předefinován, aby mohl čelit novým výzvám, které nás čekají, a využít nové tržní příležitosti, které některé trendy nabízejí. |
