Digital platforms: the extent of platform work in the Czech Republic in the year 2019, prognosis of its further development and subsequent influence on the labor market until the year 2025

This thesis is concerned with digital platforms, as the modern economical phenomenon that intertwines economy and technological innovations. The aim of the thesis is a detailed analysis of platform-based work in Czech Republic with a prognosis of its influence on the labor market by the year 2025. The following hypothesis is tested: the share of platform work on the labor market will rise with regard to the advent of new ICT functions and the development of the ICT market. Furthermore, future technology will become an implement that allows for the reduction of direct interpersonal contact and therefore, contribute to the suppression of pandemics. The analysis has evinced that platform work shows a rising tendency from its outset, which is similarly predicted for the future. The growth of platform workers's numbers in the cloud computing sector is contingent on the growth of the ICT market, whereas locally bound platforms are dependent on social digital literacy, and the total number of smartphone users. Because european society values a combination of reliability and certain forms of flexibility, it is likely that people will use this sort of work as means for supplementary income in conjunction with their full-time job. These conclusions have been made with the assistance of experts.
