Design of a BI solution for a unified data representation from wearables devices

This diploma thesis is focused on the design of a Business Intelligence solution for a unified data representation of wearable electronic devices (wearables). The main goal is the analysis, design and implementation of a solution through a visual tool dashboard, which will represent a summary of data coming from multiple wearables devices. Set of Power BI tools developed by Microsoft is used to achieve this goal. The dashboard solution is designed based on knowledge acquired through the completion of subjects at the Prague University of Economics and Business, consultations with professors and my own work experience from multinational corporations. The thesis first introduces and briefly explains the basic concepts of wearables, their basic functions, types and elements, data formats of files generated from these devices, the positives that arise from their use and the negatives completed by possible risks associated with their usage. The second part generally introduces Business Intelligence with the addition of gradual development and use. Basic terminological concepts are also explained here and they are used in the practical part of the work afterwards. Separate subchapters are devoted to data quality topics, well-known benefits of using Business Intelligence tools, and Power BI tools. Other consecutive chapters which describes the practical part of the thesis then focus on the BI solution itself by analysis, design and implementation of the solution through the visual tool dashboard. There are described specific steps of working with the received data, creation of dashboard and publication in the last chapter.
