| Abstract: | Diplomová práce se zabývá vlivem amerických federálních výdajů určených na pomoc Jižnímu Vietnamu během vietnamské války na domácí hospodářský vývoj. Cílem práce je zhodnotit vývoj a vliv válečných výdajů federální vlády na hospodářský růst USA v letech 1965-1975 a zjistit, jak významný byl tento vliv. Hypotéza spočívá v tvrzení, že válečné federální výdaje na podporu Jižního Vietnamu měly v období eskalace vietnamské války pozitivní vliv na hospodářský růst USA, a naopak v období zmírnění konfliktu byl jejich hospodářský vliv negativní. V teoretické části práce je popsán vývoj amerického hospodářství a hospodářská politika jednotlivých prezidentských administrativ. Dále je v teoretické části přiblížen vývoj vietnamské války. Praktická část práce se zabývá především analýzou federálních výdajů na pomoc Jižnímu Vietnamu v letech 1965-1975. Tato pomoc se skládá z hospodářské a válečné pomoci. Následuje analýza příspěvků pomoci k hospodářskému růstu a zhodnocení jejich vlivu a významnosti. Na základě syntézy poznatků získaných v průběhu práce je v závěru práce potvrzena testovaná hypotéza. |

| Abstract: | The diploma thesis deals with the influence of American federal expenditures designated to assist South Vietnam during the Vietnam War on domestic economic development. The aim of the thesis is to evaluate the development and impact of federal government war spending on US economic growth during 1965-1975 and to find out how significant this impact was. The hypotesis argues that federal war spending in South Vietnam had a positive effect on US economic growth during the Vietnam War escalation, and in the period of conflict mitigation their economic impact was negative. The theoretical part of the thesis describes development of the American economy and the economic policy of individual presidential administrations. Further, the theoretical part describes development of the Vietnam War. The practical part of the thesis deals mainly with the analysis of federal expenditures to aid South Vietnam during 1965-1975. This aid consists of economic and war assistance. Next is an analysis of aid contributions to economic growth and an evaluation of their impact and significance. Based on the synthesis of knowledge gained throughout the thesis, the tested hypothesis is confirmed at the end of the work. |
