Influence of COVID-19 pandemic on consumer behavior in selected sectors of the shared economy

This bachelor thesis examines the phenomenon of shared economy in the market in the Czech Republic, specifically consumer behavior in the shared economy market and its determinants before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. The aim of this work is to confirm the hypothesis that most often young people aged 20-29 participate in the market of a shared economy in both studied periods. The hypothesis is examined on the market in the Czech Republic, the data were obtained using a questionnaire survey and were further processed using regression analysis. The main finding of the work is the negative relationship between age and the degree of participation in the market of a shared economy in both periods, in other words, the hypothesis was proved. Other demographic data showed that residents of larger cities with more than 50,000 inhabitants used the services of the shared economy more than municipalities and cities with less than 50,000 inhabitants. Furthermore, single childless people with a higher monthly income also participated more. There was a reduction in use in all sectors of the shared economy examined during the COVID-19 pandemic, with some declining by more than 50 %. The main benefit of this work is a better understanding of the consumer behavior of participants in the shared eonomy market in the Czech Republic during the COVID-19 pandemic. During the pandemic, there was a large decrease in use, but the determinants of consumer behavior do not differ significantly from the situation before the pandemic.
