| Abstract: | Cílem této bakalářské práce je důkladné prozkoumání vlivu ekonomické svobody na míru vražd ve světě. Zkoumání je provedeno se záměrem otestovat hypotézu, že vyšší ekonomická svoboda snižuje míru vražd. Práce se snaží přispět k dosavadnímu výzkumu v této oblasti ekonomie a rozšířit důkazy hovořící ve prospěch ekonomické svobody. Práce své argumenty staví na teorii vycházející z ekonomie kriminality Garyho Beckera. K prokázání teoretických závěrů využívá průřezová data z roku 2016 a ve srovnání s předchozími pracemi poměrně široký vzorek 150 zemí. Práce vyjadřuje ekonomickou svobodu indexy organizací Fraser Institute a Heritage Foundation, pro které odhaduje samostatné modely. V závěru práce se nepodařilo potvrdit základní hypotézu. V odhadech modelů se totiž vyskytovala heteroskedasticita a po jejím ošetření zůstala proměnná indexu ekonomické svobody nevýznamná. Výzkum rovněž neprokázal významný rozdíl mezi indexy Fraser Institute a Heritage Foundation. Potvrdit se však podařilo významnost a směr působení některých dalších faktorů, které mají vliv na kriminalitu a doplňují odhadovaný model, jde například o koeficient příjmové nerovnosti a míru uvěznění. |

| Abstract: | The aim of this bachelor thesis is a thorough examination of the influence of economic freedom on the homicide rate in the world. The research is carried out to test the hypothesis that higher economic freedom reduces the homicide rate. The work endeavours to contribute to existing research in this area of the economy. It also seeks to disseminate evidence in favour of economic freedom. The thesis bases its arguments on a theory based on Gary Becker's economics of crime. To prove the theoretical conclusions the work uses cross-sectional data from 2016. Compared to previous papers, it works with a relatively extensive sample of 150 countries. The work expresses economic freedom by the index of the Fraser Institute and the Heritage Foundation. Each of them is estimated in a separate model. The fundamental hypothesis is not confirmed. The original models incorporate heteroskedasticity. After its treatment, the variable of the economic freedom index remained insignificant. The research has not shown a significant difference between the index of the Fraser Institute and the Heritage Foundation. However, the thesis confirms the significance and effect of some other factors affecting crime, such as income inequality and incarceration. These factors complement the estimated model. |
