| Abstract: | Tato diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou ropných šoků a jejich vlivu na ekonomiku Texasu v kontextu Spojených států amerických. Konkrétním cílem této práce je otestovat vědeckou hypotézu, zdali měly ropné šoky ze 70. let výrazně pozitivní vliv na ekonomiku Texasu. Teoretická část nejprve popisuje počátky ropného průmyslu v Texasu a Spojených státech amerických. Následně je zmapován makroekonomický vývoj Texasu v kontextu Spojených států amerických před ropnými krizemi. Dále se teoretická část zabývá ropnou soběstačností Spojených států amerických a samotnými ropnými šoky ze 70. let 20. století. Praktická část se zaměřuje na analýzu makroekonomického vývoje Texasu v průběhu a po ropných šocích. Dále je analyzován proces diverzifikace ropných zdrojů Spojených států amerických a role Texasu v tomto procesu. Z výsledků jednotlivých analýz vyplývá, že ropné šoky pozitivně ovlivnily v krátkém období pouze některé makroekonomické ukazatele, konkrétně hrubý domácí produkt a průmyslovou výrobu. V delším období se pozitivní vliv u těchto makroekonomických ukazatelů začal postupně ztrácet. V případě míry nezaměstnanosti a míry inflace nedošlo vlivem ropných šoků ke zlepšení ani jednoho z těchto makroekonomických ukazatelů. |

| Abstract: | This master’s thesis deals with the problematics of oil shocks and their impact on the Texas economy in the context of the United States of America. The specific aim of this thesis is to test the scientific hypothesis of whether the oil shocks of the 1970s had a significant positive effect on the Texas economy. The theoretical part first describes the beginnings of the oil industry in Texas and the United States of America. Subsequently, the macroeconomic development of Texas in the context of the United States of America before the oil crises is discussed. Next, the theoretical part examines oil self-sufficiency of the United States of America and the 1970s oil shocks. The practical part analyses the macroeconomic development of Texas during and after the oil shocks as well as the process of diversification of oil resources of the United States of America and the role of Texas. The results show that oil shocks had a positive effect on only some macroeconomic indicators in the short term, specifically gross domestic product and industrial production. In the longer term, this positive effect began to fade gradually. Neither unemployment rate nor the inflation rate were improved due to the oil shocks. |
