Labour Market Analysis of Písek District between 2015 and 2021

The present bachelor’s thesis analyses the Písek District’s labour market from 2015 to 2021, drawing comparisons between selected districts of the South Bohemian region. The underlying terminology and concepts pertaining to the issues of labour market are clearly defined in the theoretical part. Additionally, the character of the COVID-19 pandemic is scrutinised and described. Following the description of the fundamental theory, the practical part delves into the ČSÚ, MPSV and ČSSZ databases, using the comparative method to evaluate the differentiation between the particular districts. In comparison with the selected districts of the South Bohemian region, Písek District came out on top with regards to the labour market due to its keeping the unemployment rate lowest in the whole region, and abounding with small and medium-sized enterprises. The laid out hypothesis that the labour market had been adversely affected by the ongoing pandemic has been refuted on the account of the good entrepreneurial environment, Písek’s subsidy programmes and the industrial district Písek-Sever, offering stable job positions. So as to retain the good condition of the market, the continuity of the support for the entrepreneurs and businesses limited by the governmental restrictions is deemed necessary. It is the industrial zone that will prove to be the main supporting pillar of market stability at the time of the ensuing pandemic recession.
