| Abstract: | Diplomová práce se zabývá rolí Turecka v izraelsko-palestinském konfliktu mezi lety 2002–2014, resp. od nástupu Strany spravedlnosti a rozvoje (AKP) k moci do konce operace Ochranné ostří. Cílem práce je zjistit, zda existuje příčinná souvislost mezi rolí Turecka jako mediátora izraelsko-palestinského konfliktu a jeho snahami o roli regionálního hegemona Blízkého východu. Výzkumnou metodou práce je kauzální analýza, kdy hegemonie je ve zkoumaném vztahu nezávislou proměnnou a mediace závislou proměnnou. Teoretickým východiskem práce je teorie řešení konfliktu se zaměřením na proces mediace, a její následné propojení s regionální hegemonií skrze motivy státu pro zapojení do konfliktu. Druhá kapitola obsahuje vysvětlení self-image Turecka jako regionálního hegemona skrze Doktrínu strategické hloubky jako strategického konceptu zahraniční politiky AKP. Ve třetí kapitole je pak prostřednictvím jednotlivých ukazatelů, kterými byl operacionalizován konstrukt mediace, zkoumáno zapojení Turecka v izraelsko-palestinském konfliktu v jednotlivých obdobích konfliktu mezi lety 2002–2014. |

| Abstract: | This master thesis focuses on the role of Turkey in Israeli-Palestinian conflict between 2002–2014, respectively from the rise Justice and Development Party (JDP) to the power until the end of the Operation Protective Edge. The aim of the thesis is to find out whether there is a causality between the role of Turkey as a mediator of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and its efforts to become a regional hegemon of the Middle East. The research method is causal analysis, where hegemony is an independent variable in the investigated relationship and mediation a dependent variable. The theoretical framework is the theory of conflict resolution with a focus on the mediation process, and its subsequent connection with regional hegemony through state motives for involvement in conflict. The second chapter explains Turkey's self-image as a regional hegemon through the Doctrine of Strategic Depth as a strategic concept of JDP foreign policy. In the third chapter, Turkey's involvement in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in the various periods of conflict between 2002–2014 is examined through individual indicators that have been used to operationalize the mediation construct. |
