| Abstract: | Republika Severní Makedonie, tehdy pod názvem Bývalá jugoslávská republika Makedonie, se potenciálním kandidátem pro vstup do Evropské unie stala již v roce 2003, status kandidátské země poté získala v roce 2005. Na rozdíl od jiných balkánských zemí, jejichž vývoj byl v rámci procesu přistoupení k EU dynamičtější, čekala Severní Makedonie na další impuls ze strany Unie až do března 2020, kdy Rada rozhodla o zahájení přístupových jednání, která ovšem doposud započata nebyla. Cílem této práce je aplikace teorie normativní moci na vztahy Evropské unie a Severní Makedonie od vzniku samostatného státu v roce 1991 až do současnosti; a analýza tohoto vztahu, na jejímž základě je zodpovězena výzkumná otázka, a sice zda cíle, prostředky a dopady evropských politik, především pak politiky rozšiřování EU vůči Severní Makedonii, mají normativní či „nenormativní“ podobu? V práci bude též zhodnoceno, zda lze EU považovat za normativního aktéra. |

| Abstract: | The Republic of North Macedonia, then known as the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, became a potential candidate for the EU membership in 2003 and was granted candidate status in 2005. While the development of the accession process in case of other Balkan countries has been more dynamic, North Macedonia waited for further impetus from the European Union until March 2020, when the Council decided to open accession negotiations, which, however, have not yet started. The aim of this thesis is to apply the theory of normative power to the relationship between the European Union and North Macedonia, focusing on the period between the establishment of the independent state in 1991 and the present day, and to analyse this relationship. Based on this analysis, the research question is answered, namely, whether the objectives, means and effects of European policies, especially the EU enlargement policy towards North Macedonia, reflect a normative or a 'non-normative' form? The thesis shall also assess whether the EU can be considered a normative actor. |
