Political instability in Belarus and how it influenced the strategic sectors of the economy

The paper examines the impact of political instability, such as a penalty imposed by the United States and the European Union, on Belarus' economy until December 2021. The study investigates the impact on key economic sectors such as automobile, petroleum, and potassium. The author relies heavily on observation as a qualitative technique, backed up by factual data from datasets such as Belarus' statistical yearbook and quantitative results from studies based on the TIES database that examined the economic impact of UN and US sanctions. The Author offers his thoughts on why the sanctions imposed were ineffective. Nonetheless, the author relates the study's findings to Belarus's economic position. Although, the probability of success of targeted sanctions is provided by the help of the study made by DW. Resulting in a loss that accounts for billions of USD combined, Belarus sustained short-term economic prosperity during the sanctioned period. The Author provides his ideas about why the sanctions applied were not so effective while comparing the impact and outcomes with their goal.
