| Abstract: | Cílem této práce je zjistit, do jaké míry lze teorii střetu civilizací Samuela Huntingtona aplikovat na válku v Sýrii a následně posoudit, zda lze zkoumaný konflikt považovat za civilizační střet. V teoretické části je rozebrána samotná Huntingtonova teorie, přičemž je kladen důraz zejména na charakteristiky definující civilizační střety. Následně je v empirické části analyzováno, zda lze definované faktory pozorovat na příkladu války v Sýrii. Součástí praktické části je také stručné přiblížení vývoje konfliktu a analýza jednotlivých aktérů spolu s jejich aliancemi. V závěru je vyhodnocena platnost teorie střetu civilizací pro syrskou krizi. |

| Abstract: | The aim of this thesis is to determine to what extent Samuel Huntington's theory of the clash of civilizations can be applied to the war in Syria and then to assess whether the conflict can be considered a clash of civilizations. In the theoretical part, Huntington's theory itself is discussed, with particular emphasis on the characteristics defining civilizational conflicts. Subsequently, the empirical part discusses whether the defined factors can be observed in the case of the war in Syria. The practical part also includes a brief outline of the development of the conflict and an analysis of the different actors together with their alliances. Finally, the validity of the theory of the clash of civilizations for the Syrian crisis is evaluated. |
