| Abstract: | Tato práce se zabývá zahraniční politikou Baracka Obamy vůči Íránu v kontextu defenzivního realismu. Pomocí analýzy vybraných prezidentských projevů a strategických dokumentů se práce pokouší zjistit, zda se v Obamově zahraniční politice objevily prvky defenzivního realismu. Pro účely této práce bylo vybráno období mezi lety 2009-2016. V teoretické části je nastíněna charakteristika teorie defenzivního realismu. Druhá kapitola obsahuje v prvé řadě koncept zahraniční politiky a následně její tvorbu v USA. Třetí kapitola se poté zabývá případovou studií zahraniční politiky Baracka Obamy vůči Íránu. V poslední kapitole dochází k aplikaci teorie v rámci zodpovězení podotázek, které směřují na Obamovu politiku. Na základě výsledků lze usoudit, že se v Obamově zahraniční politice vůči Íránu objevily prvky defenzivního realismu. |

| Abstract: | This paper examines Barack Obama's foreign policy towards Iran in the context of defensive realism. Through an analysis of selected presidential speeches and policy documents, the thesis attempts to determine whether elements of defensive realism have emerged in Obama's foreign policy. For the purpose of this thesis, the period between 2009-2016 was selected. The theoretical part outlines the characteristics of the theory of defensive realism. The second chapter contains firstly the concept of foreign policy and then its formation in the US. The third chapter deals with a case study of Barack Obama's foreign policy towards Iran. The last chapter applies the theory in answering sub-questions directed at Obama's policy towards Iran. Based on the results, it can be concluded that elements of defensive realism have emerged in Obama's foreign policy towards Iran. |
