Return policy of Spain in relation to Ceuta

Migration to Europe has a long and fascinating history, which also includes a large chapter on migration from African countries. Immigration, as one of the acute topics, is perceived differently in time. So, one of the tasks of this paper is, using the example of one of the current migration routes from Ceuta to the continent, to find out how Spain manages its return policy towards illegal migrants, and whether it complies with the fundamental principles of the EU return policy. This is curious because recently the EU's migration and especially readmission policies have seen a number of changes, for example, in 2021 the European Commission introduced The EU strategy on voluntary return and Reintegration, which puts more emphasis on cooperation with third world countries and on a humanitarian approach to immigrants. Research question is concentrated on Spanish attitude towards immigration and how it implements EU readmission policy approaches in the case of a particular irregular migration route. In the way of theoretical background, this paper is mainly premised on the general concept of return policy, the fundamental EU strategy on reintegration, in addition to readmission agreements and regulations within the European Union, which in the end will help to understand that, apart from border control regulations, greater emphasis must be placed on cooperation with third countries and on making reintegration programs more effective. Modifying the system is a long process but it does worth it.
