Abstract:
A significant shift in software development projects came with the emergence of Agile software development. The traditional approach for managing is reasonably considered to be inflexible and the one that contradicts hardly predictable and changing nature of software development projects. Whereas “Agile methods assume that changes in requirements are inevitable, and thus the software development cycle has to adapt to this fact” (López-Martínez et al., 2016). The Agile approach basically implies flexibility in all processes, adoption of which usually brings a number of specific challenges. This work mainly focuses on identifying and analyzing problems associated with the adoption of the Agile mindset, especially the Scrum framework. In order to assess the merits and challenges of Scrum adoption, the specific real-world organization that operates in the IT sector is taken as an example and examined under the action research. This research demonstrates that there is not a single way of adopting Scrum in the context of organizations, rather it is a process of continuous improvement and changes, therefore challenges are its integral part.
