The ASMR Phenomenon And Its Popularization

The aim of the work is to create a compact thought framework around the ASMR phenomenon in terms of its history, psychology and physiology and then create a video that meets the characteristics of ASMR and test its own hypothesis. The first step is to acquaint the reader with the internet multisensory"phenomenon ASMR – Autonomous Meridian Sensory Response. This word describes the genre of internet content and the physiological response to this content. The phenomenon itself is described only sporadically by the academic community, it seems to be shrouded in mystery, as its popularization began around the year 2010. The author first describes ASMR as a physiological response to media content, which is usually basically euphoric. He then compares this phenomenon with a related phenomenon, Frisson. Within Frisson, we know its conditioning factors well, which the author transmits on the basis of similarity with ASMR. The author tests one of his conditions in his hypothesis in the practical part – increased emotional contrast. The factors causing ASMR are related to the technologies used in the production of ASMR. The author mainly describes the sound component, which seems to be more important for the phenomenon. It focuses on binaural sound recording and how it can be achieved. The author mentions the occurrences of this phenomenon before the emergence of its modern name, the grouping of the original community, the creation of the ASMR format on Youtube and its gradual transformation. He then introduces prominent representatives of the ASMR scene. At the end of the work, the author creates his own ASMR video, presents the process of pre-production, production and post-production. The author evaluates the resulting video using a qualitative questionnaire.
