| Abstract: | Bakalářská práce s titulem Udílení cen v českém výtvarném umění a jejich role v podpoře umělců se věnuje tématu uměleckých soutěží, které se v posledních letech staly na poli (nejen) tuzemské umělecké scény předmětem rozsáhlých polemik. Ty reagují na uplynulé události, kdy se řada laureátů, ať už českých či zahraničních prestižních soutěží rozhodla ocenění symbolicky odmítnout a demonstrovat tak, že princip soutěže ve výtvarném umění je hned z několika důvodů problematický. Na poli výtvarného umění se tak začíná diskutovat, má-li soutěžení v umění vůbec smysl a zda se skutečně jedná o formát, který je v kontextu podpory umělců a umělkyň tím nejvhodnějším. V první, teoretické části, se práce zabývá úvodem do problematiky uměleckých soutěží v českém výtvarném umění, které vznikly za účelem podpory současného umění. Nastíněn bude jejich polistopadový vývoj i současné tendence, jejich ekonomické a sociální aspekty. Druhá, praktická část, ve které je nejpatrněji promítnut cíl práce – „Jakým způsobem by se měla umělecká ocenění vyvíjet, aby skutečně představovaly určitou formu (dlouhodobé) podpory umělců, jak mnohé z nich deklarují?" –, na základě kvalitativního výzkumu vysleduje nejzásadnější problémy a příležitosti, které souvisejí s konkrétními uměleckými soutěžemi v českém prostředí. Výzkum bude proveden na základě rozhovorů s (v minulosti oceněnými) umělci a umělkyněmi, a také s organizátory zkoumaných institucí. Spolu s komparací se zahraničními postupy a jinými formami podpory výtvarných umělců a umělkyň budou výsledky výzkumu aplikovány pro praxi využitelná doporučení. |

| Abstract: | This bachelor thesis entitled Award giving in the Czech fine arts and its role in supporting artists deals with the topic of art competitions. Those have in recent years become the subject of extensive controversy in the field of (not only) the domestic art scene. They respond to the past events when several laureates in both Czech and foreign prestigious competitions decided to symbolically reject the award and thus demonstrate that the principle of competition in the fine arts is problematic for several reasons. In the field of fine arts, there have recently been lot of discussions about whether competing in art makes sense at all and whether this is the most appropriate way to support artists. The first theoretical part of the thesis deals with an introduction to the issue of art competitions in the Czech fine arts which were created to support contemporary art. Furthermore, the post-revolutionary development, as well as the current tendencies and their economic and social aspects will be outlined. The second practical part most clearly reflects the goal of the work "How should art prizes develop to represent some form of (long-term) support for artists as many of them declare?" It is based on the qualitative research that traces the most fundamental problems and opportunities related to specific art competitions in the Czech environment. The research will be conducted on the interviews with (in the past awarded) artists, as well as with the organizers of the institutions explored. Together with a comparison with foreign procedures and other forms of support for artists the results of the research will be applied as practical recommendations to be put into practice. |
