| Abstract: | Předmětem práce je Hotel Thermal v Karlových Varech, hotel s venkovním bazénem, který byl postaven jako festivalový palác Mezinárodního filmového festivalu Karlovy Vary. Je významným příkladem brutalistní architektury, která rozděluje společnost. Popisuje historii objektu z pera manželů Machoninových, jeho uměleckou hodnotu, včetně uměleckých děl nacházejících se v okolí stavby, a jeho rekonstrukci, která byla zahájena v lednu 2020. Cílem práce je zjistit, jakými metodami je možné co nejefektivněji chránit kulturní hodnoty areálu, který v roce 2017 nebyl prohlášen kulturní památkou, ale spadá do památkové rezervace, a jeho vlastník se při zásazích do stavby nemusí řídit přísnějšími pravidly památkové péče. Kvalitativní výzkum byl prováděn formou rešerší současné i dobové dokumentace a formou rozhovorů se zainteresovanými aktéry. |

| Abstract: | The Thesis focuses on Hotel Thermal in Karlovy Vary, hotel with an outdoor swimingpool, which was built as a film festival palace for Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. It is a significant example of brutalist architecture, which devides the society despite the cultural value. It describes history of the building built by architects Věra and Vladimír Machoninovi, its historic and artistic value including artworks inside and around the complex and current reconstruction which is taking place since January 2020. The aim of the Thesis is to find out possible ways of protecting and preserving the cultural values of the area, which was previously not declared a monument and its owner does not have to follow stricter rules of monument care when interfering with the building. Qualitative research was carried out in the form of a search of current and contemporary documentation and interviews with stakeholders. |
