| Abstract: | Velká Británie byla zemí, která patřila mezi státy, které byly druhou světovou válkou zasaženy nejvíce. Šest let dlouhých bojů ničilo zemi jak materiálně, tak finančně. V této práci je na analýzu válečného hospodářství nahlíženou z více hledisek. Hrubý domácí produkt sice v průběhu války vzrostl, ale v posledních třech letech konfliktu měl klesající tendenci. Razantně se změnila také výroba, kde objem produkce jednotlivých odvětví dosáhl razantních změn. Odvětví, kterými byli například textilní, nebo potravinářský průmysl ustupovaly na úkor zbrojního nebo strojírenského průmyslu až do té podoby, kdy velká část spotřebního zboží byla pouze na příděl. Tato změna však výraznou měrou pomohla k vítězství Velké Británie v druhé světové válce. Další oblastí byl trh práce, kde se struktura zaměstnanosti také rychle měnila. Míra nezaměstnanosti z dvouciferné sumy před začátkem války rychle klesala a dostala se až pod jedno procento. Stejně tak procházel velkými změnami i vývoj státního rozpočtu, který se čím dál tím rychleji dostával do většího deficitu. Ze začátku války sice některé hospodářské ukazatele rostly, ale v posledních třech letech války měly spíše klesající tendenci a vliv na hospodářství Velké Británie tak tento konflikt nebyl příliš příznivý. |

| Abstract: | Great Britain was one of the countries that was among the hardest hit by the Second World War. Six long years of fighting devastated the country both materially and financially. In this paper, the analysis of the war economy is viewed from multiple perspectives. Although gross domestic product increased during the war, it trended downward during the last three years of the conflict. Production also changed dramatically, with the output of individual sectors reaching dramatic changes. Sectors such as textiles or foodstuffs, for example, receded at the expense of the armaments or engineering industries, to the point where a large proportion of consumer goods were rationed. However, this change contributed significantly to Britain's victory in the Second World War. Another area was the labour market, where the structure of employment was also changing rapidly. The unemployment rate fell rapidly from double digits before the war began to below one per cent. Similarly, the state budget was also undergoing major changes, and was increasingly running a deficit. Although some economic indicators were rising at the beginning of the war, they tended to fall in the last three years of the war, and the effect on the UK economy was not very favourable. |
