Use of statistical tools in the analysis of football teams

Obsah práce sa zaoberá štatistickými údajmi, ktoré sa zbierajú vo futbale a následnou analýzou týchto informácií k všeobecnému použitiu. Hlavným cieľom tejto práce je overiť stanovené hypotézy, ktoré nám pomôžu lepšie pochopiť futbalový zápas ako taký, a na záver sa pokúsime z už odohraných zápasov odhadnúť výsledky futbalových zápasov s určitou pravdepodobnosťou. Výsledky práce naznačujú dôležitosť skúmaných futbalových štatistík a taktiež poukazujú na významnosť výberu rozličných druhov modelov na následné využitie štatistík pre ľudí pracujúcich vo futbalovej sfére.

The content of this thesis deals with statistical data collected in football and the subsequent analysis of this information for general use. The main goal of this work is to verify the established hypotheses that will help us to better understand the football match as such, and in the end we try to estimate the results of football matches with a certain probability from the matches already played. The results of the work indicate the importance of the studied football statistics and also point out the importance of s electing different types of the models for the subsequent use of statistics for people working in the football sphere.
