Abstract: | Práce zkoumá vliv švédské cesty mírnějších opatření v rámci boje proti šíření nemoci covid-19 na ekonomiku. |

Abstract: | The aim of this diploma thesis is to analyze the impact of milder Swedish measurements implemented to minimize the spread of covid-19 on economic activity. Various past epidemics and their impact on economy are discussed in the first part of the thesis. The description of the spread of covid-19 in Europe and types of measurements implemented to minimize it in selected countries follows. Existing papers about the topic are introduced also in this part. The effect of milder measurements is examined with the help of the synthetic control method. This method creates alternative synthetic values from the data of the control pool, and those are then compared with the real ones. The results do not imply that Swedish milder restrictions had an impact on the GDP per capita. Conversely, there is a visible gap between synthetic and real values in the unemployment rate; however, this gap might be caused by other factors. The effect on consumption cannot by evaluated, as the model does not provide any credible outcome. |
